Recreations Causing Adapted Previous Feelings? I THINK SO!

the first image is my recreation using Molly Bang's methods and the youtube link leads to the end of Lion King so you can see the difference and see if it brings out an emotional response. The ideal of the children’s project and the recreation that we had to do with it really allowed a new representation and perspective of Molly Bang’s work and how important it is to understand the concept of images and shapes and the simplicity of things. When I say simplicity, I mean how just simple shapes or objects and the way they are put in a page can bring out a certain perspective of it. For example, just like the top half of an image will show triumph and victoriousness and that’s essentially what I did when I re-created the story of Lion King and in the end when Simba is standing on the top of Pride Rock after he beats Scar. All I used was round shapes and drew a cliff to represent the height of the round shape is all. In that case it allowed me to re-create that scene. Molly Bang’s work was very simple and showed that also words don’t need to be used when creating certain works. Just objects, colors and certain shapes can tell a whole story without a word ever being told. It’s like watching a show with no words just action and movement. Even after looking at the work it allowed me to look at it and really grasp how just objects and shapes allowed me to feel a different response compared to actually reading what is happening or hearing it. When I say feel a different response, I mean it like this. When regarding an image say like the show, I used Lion King, you can see the image and you can remember it afterwards. So now after watching it and then re-creating it using just shapes and no words, it makes you think wow, the way Molly Bang described how certain shapes bring out different responses allow us to connect more with the characters in the show and also understand how important the objects can mean when regarding a story. In conclusion, this project was very eye-opening because it just brought on another perspective of simplicity and also not needing words to describe feelings and emotional responses. Just by looking at the image will allow a different response especially after watching the original film or movie of it. The point of this blog was to mention how important Molly Bang’s perspective of shapes, colors, and objects and how important it is in understanding how without words, feelings and emotions can still be reached and adapted than what was previously felt. #emotional #mollybang #shapes #feelings
