CULTURES THAT ARE CHANGING EVERYDAY IN OUR LIVES

This is the star from "The Sun is Also a Star" a different portrayl of Asian men on television and i also want to note, the film was great in actually portraying an interracial couple of black and asian where in past that would never be known to people but there are actually many couples like that.
Crazy rich asians and the dominant asian cast - again with a different portrayl of asian people.
first off rip. chadwick boseman - but an image of him and again a different portrayal of black people and in general him being a hero and an inspiration to many.
From the movie First Purge, This man was seen as a drug dealer who was a criminal but in reality he ended up taking care of everyone and his commmunity and protected the ones he neede against none other.. the government. I’m going to state the point of this blog right at the beginning and also to note that it is 2020 which means that we are all in an aware state essentially, meaning by this that in this time and age with technology and all the people around us we are more than ever should be more intertwined with history and what history actually is and not what is just taught at school. I watched the video on Du Boi’s data portraits that was linked for the class, it was a great explanation, and the key notes was the embrace and involvement of Black America essentially in the data portraits. There was a keynote in the end of the clip which was about “seeing African Americans in a different light” see that is a big factor regarding all of history and time. Of course with that being said, it is known that in past films (relating it to the current time now) it was seen as the black man as the thug, gangster or killer rather than someone who was a hero, good guy or the one who wins. Of course, now that narrative has changed since we have films such as Black Panther and (this may be hard for some people to see) from the movie the Purge (The First Purge) are seen in a different light. I’m saying this because well we all know with the Black Panther film involving a mostly black cast, it was a changing point in film as well as history in general because that was the first time it was like that that made such a big impact in the filming world and Black Panther became a hero to many children of all cultures but it gave another light to black men. The movie The First Purge portrays Y’Lan Noel as a drug dealer, gangster but he ends up being the main protagonist and saving everyone and protecting those he cares about which essentially changes the narrative that originally was portrayed. That paragraph above this as well as the title may be confusing, I’m going to clear it up right now. The paragraph above talks about two of many different films as well as characters that bring a different light to African Americans that may be different as the past and that goes into what Du Boi’s work which was the portrayal of African Americans in the 1900s and who they were and what they became after beating slavery years ago. The title is talking about the cultures in our society which are many and that are ever changing. We all had a certain stereotype and previous thoughts to certain cultures and characters when we see them but can be completely distracted by it but in this time and age 2020, each culture is different and not the same as previously once thought. I would like to bring up another example, Asian culture. Two movies come to my mind which is Crazy Rich Asians, and The Sun is Also a Star. These movies are actually a great comparison to the movies I mentioned two paragraphs ago as Crazy Rich Asians has an all Asian cast and the Sun is also a Star has the main protagonists someone you would never believe to be. Typically, in movies, Asian character would be seem as the scrawny, kung-fu small type of people who are quiet or just super smart and nerdy, but these movies bring out a different version of them. In Crazy Rich Asians, well they’re rich and just like any other culture that is rich but in previous years and films it wasn’t always like that and in the movie The Sun is Also a Star, the main protagonist is Asian and people may have thought he was a nerd but he was actually built, strong and tall and was just like everyone aside from the typical stereotype. The main point of this blog to make it easier to notice is that all the cultures in our society are everchanging and never the same as the last decade before it. In the first paragraph I mentioned about it being 2020, well yes this is the year plenty of people especially the younger generation are more open to the knowledge in the world and not just what is taught in schools. All the cultures perspective of themselves and by other are subject to change as time goes on and ultimately, I feel that is what Du Bois wanted to portray…. “A different light” as the video mentioned. That could also go not just for African Americans but all cultures, nothing is the same, but everything is ever-changing. #blackamerica #culture #perspective #experience #everchanging
